70+ YEARS OF USA
DESIGN & MANUFACTURING
The Strategic Moment
THE DRONE DOMINANCE IMPERATIVE
The U.S. military has declared drones the most significant battlefield innovation in generations. Small drone companies that can scale domestic manufacturing now will define the next era of American defense capability.
CHINA HOLDS 90% OF THE MARKET
China has captured more than 90% of the global commercial drone market through subsidies, pricing pressure, and supply-chain control. The U.S. military has explicitly recognized it is "years behind the curve" — and is using the Drone Dominance Program to rapidly reverse that gap.
DRONES ARE THE DECISIVE WEAPON
Conflicts in Ukraine, Israel, Iran, and beyond have proven that low-cost drones now account for a staggering proportion of battlefield casualties. Adversaries collectively produce millions of inexpensive drones each year. The U.S. must match and exceed that capacity.
A STEADY $1B DEMAND SIGNAL
With ~$1.1 billion in committed funding and an iterative Gauntlet structure, DoW is creating the first sustained, predictable demand signal in U.S. drone history — enabling manufacturers to invest in capacity with confidence for the first time.
SMALL COMPANIES NEED TO SCALE FAST
The 25 vendors selected for Phase I Gauntlet represent innovative, agile drone developers — but most lack the production infrastructure to fulfill orders in the hundreds of thousands. That gap is the manufacturing opportunity.
THE DRONE DOMINANCE PROGRAM AT A GLANCE
Initiated under an executive order from President Trump and operationalized by Secretary Hegseth's "Unleashing U.S. Military Drone Dominance" memorandum, the program is structured across four competitive phases — each beginning with a "Gauntlet" evaluation at Fort Benning, Georgia. Unit prices are designed to fall from $5,000 in Phase I to under $2,000 by the program's conclusion, while volumes scale dramatically. All systems must be domestically designed and manufactured.

06
CHINA-SOURCED IC REPLACEMENT — A CAPABILITY MOST CMs CANNOT OFFER
Many drone designs today rely on integrated circuits — video overlay processors, image signal processors, ESC controller ICs, and others — that are sourced exclusively from Chinese manufacturers. These components create hard NDAA §889 compliance barriers, supply chain fragility, and potential security exposure that can disqualify a program entirely. Most contract manufacturers have no answer to this problem beyond "find a different part" — which often means rearchitecting the design from scratch.
Our U.S.-based engineering team can do what few CMs can: design custom IC-level replacements and mixed-signal solutions that substitute for China-only components while maintaining full software compatibility with your existing firmware and ecosystem. Whether it's a video overlay IC, a motor controller, or another function currently locked to a Chinese-sourced part, we can engineer a domestically sourced or custom alternative — keeping your architecture intact, your software unchanged, and your program NDAA-compliant.
REGULATORY READINESS
CERTIFICATIONS & COMPLIANCE
Defense and government UAS programs operate within a complex, evolving regulatory landscape. We manage pre-compliance through final submission — so your program stays on schedule.
STANDARD | SCOPE & RELEVANCE TO YOUR PROGRAM |
|---|---|
DO-160 / DO-178 | Airborne equipment environmental testing (DO-160) and software certification (DO-178C) for programs requiring higher safety assurance levels. Engineering support available for certification planning. |
MIL-STD-810 | Environmental engineering test methods — temperature, vibration, humidity, altitude, and shock. Validation testing to MIL-STD-810 ensures your airframe and avionics perform in the toughest operational environments. |
CMMC 2.0 | Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification requirements for DoD contract work. Our U.S.-only software development and secure manufacturing environment supports your CMMC documentation and audit readiness. |
ITAR / EAR | International Traffic in Arms Regulations and Export Administration Regulations govern defense articles and dual-use technology. ITAR registration and domestic manufacturing ensures your program never inadvertently crosses a compliance line. |
NDAA §889 | Prohibits covered foreign telecommunications and video surveillance equipment. Our fully domestic supply chain and component qualification process ensures NDAA §889 compliance by design — not as an afterthought. |
FCC Part 15/47 | Unlicensed RF emissions for C2 links, telemetry radios, and onboard communication systems. In-house pre-compliance testing shortens lab time and reduces re-test cycles. |
FCC Part 107 | FAA remote pilot certification framework and sUAS operational rules — foundational for any U.S.-based drone program and all field testing activities. |
NO FOREIGN FIRMWARE RISKS
Hardware and software stack developed and audited entirely on U.S. soil. Zero exposure to undisclosed foreign code, hidden telemetry, or supply-chain backdoors that have disqualified competitors from DoD programs.
SUPPLY CHAIN INTEGRITY
Domestic manufacturing eliminates the opacity that creates national security vulnerabilities. Every component is sourced and qualified through a traceable, NDAA-compliant supply chain — documented for government procurement.
IP STAYS IN AMERICA
Your airframe designs, avionics schematics, and firmware never cross a border. For programs operating under ITAR, CMMC, or classified requirements, this is non-negotiable.

02
SYSTEMS-LITERATE ENGINEERING TEAM
Our engineers have designed and validated UAS platforms from the ground up — control systems, avionics, and RF communications. When you bring a program to us, you're working with a team that speaks your language across every trade-off.
03
DOMESTIC SUPPLY CHAIN RESILIENCE
In a world of tariff volatility and foreign supply chain disruption, a U.S.-manufactured drone program provides the sourcing visibility and procurement agility your government and defense clients require. No single-source foreign dependencies.
04
ACCELERATED TIME-TO-MARKET
Eliminating overseas logistics, rework shipping cycles, and international coordination overhead compresses program schedules by weeks or months. Co-located design and manufacturing teams move at the speed your Drone Dominance timeline demands.
05
COST STRUCTURE BUILT TO WIN GAUNTLETS
The DoW program is explicitly designed to drive unit costs from $5,000 to below $2,000 through iterative competition. Our lean manufacturing processes, domestic sourcing strategy, and production efficiency engineering are built precisely to help your program hit those targets.
06
SCALABLE PRODUCTION CAPACITY
From prototype runs through volume production in the tens of thousands, our facility scales with your program. Rigorous quality systems and in-process controls ensure the ten-thousandth unit performs identically to the development article.
07
CUSTOM IC DESIGN: ELIMINATING CHINA-ONLY COMPONENT DEPENDENCIES
This is a capability virtually no other contract manufacturer can offer. Many drone programs are built around integrated circuits — video overlay ICs, image processors, ESC controllers — that exist only as Chinese-manufactured parts. When NDAA compliance, security review, or supply chain resilience demands a replacement, most CMs are stuck. Our in-house U.S. electronics engineering team can design custom IC-level solutions and mixed-signal alternatives that replace those China-sourced components while preserving full software compatibility — no firmware rewrites, no ecosystem disruption, no program delays. Your design stays intact. Your compliance posture is clean.
